Position Overview:
The Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of district-wide curriculum and instructional initiatives that support student achievement and align with educational standards. This position works closely with Department Chairs, instructional staff, and administrators to ensure effective curriculum delivery and assessment practices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of curriculum design, data analysis, and leadership skills to guide and support teachers in achieving educational goals.
1. Curriculum & Instruction Leadership
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum aligned with state standards, district goals, and best practices.
- Collaborate with Department Chairs and instructional staff to ensure coherence across grade levels and subjects.
- Provide guidance on selecting instructional resources that meet diverse student needs and foster engagement.
- Communicate curriculum updates, instructional expectations, and assessment practices to stakeholders.
2. Professional Development & Teacher Support
- Coordinate and deliver targeted professional development to enhance instructional practices and curriculum implementation.
- Support teachers in using formative assessment data to inform instruction.
- Facilitate the new teacher mentoring program.
- Provide ongoing coaching to all teachers on a rotating or as-needed basis, ensuring personalized support tailored to individual and group needs.
- Assist teachers in integrating instructional technology and classroom management strategies.
- Model lessons and co-teach when appropriate.
3. Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze student performance data to inform instructional decisions and curriculum adjustments.
- Assist teachers and Department Chairs in using data to identify student needs, set goals, and refine teaching strategies.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of curriculum initiatives and instructional methods.
- Coordinate common assessments.
- Assist with the coordination of statewide testing, including supporting test administration.
4. Collaboration & District Initiatives
- Serve as a liaison between instructional staff, Department Chairs, and district administration to maintain clear communication and alignment of curriculum goals.
- Work with building principals to improve staff competencies and instructional programs.
- Maintain active participation in local, state, and national curriculum and instruction initiatives.
- Support district-wide efforts to integrate technology into instructional programs.
5. Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the list of approved instructional materials.
- May assist with state and federal grants.
- Attend Board meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
