What are the responsibilities and job description for the Records Clerk position at Central Valley Indian Health, Inc.?
Central Valley Indian Health is seeking experienced candidates for the position of Records Clerk. This position is responsible for the management of all patient records and adherence to all Quality Assurance and government guidelines pertaining to medical records (i.e. collection of information, confidentiality, distribution, format, maintenance, processing, security, storage, and physical safety of patient records, identification of each record, timely entry of data into records, and timely retrieval). Responsible for HIPAA Compliance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible to scan labs, reports (imaging consultation, hospital, etc.), and other daily forms other departments and outside providers into electronic medical records.
- Responsible for assigning scanned documents to the proper staff for review.
- Responsible for daily mail.
- Assist in scanning all inactive, deceased, and volumes of charts according to the Medical Records Policy.
- Responsible for making sure all documents are scanned into the correct electronic medical record folders based on patients documents folder list.
- Responsible for checking e- faxing and in house faxes to direct documents to the proper staff.
- Responsible for medical records request for subpoenas, court orders and upon patient request.
- Responsible for reviewing the release of documentation forms, faxing forms to the appropriate provider’s office, and following up with facilities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to CVIH standards and protocols.
- Communicate in a friendly and professional manner to others. Provide excellent service/support to all patients, employees, and outside contacts.
- Any other duties assigned to the employee by his or her direct supervisor or CVIH Administration.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of office skills, typing, filing, medical terminology, and computer literate.
- Accredited records technician or experience in medical records.
- A valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record with the ability to be insured under CVIH’s automobile insurance.
- Requires an awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs; an ability at times to meet and deal effectively with Indian Health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.
- “Safety Sensitive” positions are subject to random drug testing and are required as condition of continued employment.
Summary
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 8:30-5:30.
