Under the supervision of the Registered Dietician, the Nutrition Services Specialist coordinate’s daily food and nutrition services for PACE program Participants.
Schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Compensation: $25.87 - $27.16 an hour

Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees day-to-day operations of dietary/meal services.
- Responsible for ensuring service of meals, snacks, and beverages using portion control and applicable sanitation practices.
- Responsible for overseeing the delivery of meals to PACE participants and setting up meal trays in accordance with dietary orders and/or tray cards.
- Ensures PACE participants are served proper diet and following food preferences in a timely manner.
- Assists Registered Dietitian with assessments or reassessments as needed.
- Communicates participant changes to Registered Dietitian and appropriately documents in the medical record.
- Ensures all kitchen equipment is functioning properly and logs are maintained; and faulty equipment is reported.
- Audits Daily Kitchen/Dietary Logs and test trays in the kitchen.
- Performs audits to ensure proper storage (FIFO method), rotation, preparation, and labeling of food in accordance with State and local guidelines and CV PACE policy. Discards outdated food.
- Maintains fully-stocked kitchen inventory ordering as needed.
- Ensures that the menu, as set forth by the Registered Dietitian is being executed as documented and to the highest quality standards.
- Responsible for ordering and posting the monthly lunch menu.
- Maintains a safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits.
- Responsible for storing incoming food and supplies.
- Utilizes and enforces protective gear in all appropriate functions.
- Conducts PACE participant food satisfaction surveys quarterly.
- Attends and participates in training, in-services, and staff meetings as needed.
- Observe each participant for any change in physical, mental, emotional and social functioning and shall report such changes to the licensed nurse.
- Reviews the budgeting and reports findings to the Coordinator.
- Assists with the development and implementation of nutrition service standards and procedures for the nutrition services team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring patients may involve lifting or pushing greater than 30 pounds, should be done with assistance as appropriate.
- Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.
- Must have vision with or without lenses that is adequate to read memos, a computer screen, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
- Must have high manual dexterity.
- Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, fingering and feeling.
Work Environment
- Exposure to biohazards, including infectious material and waste and any other conditions common in a health care environment.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, but may at times be noisy and crowded.
Education/Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid California Driver’s License, acceptable driving record and vehicle insurance.
- Bilingual English / Spanish.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication.
- Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in nutrition; in a setting with the frail and/or elderly preferred.
- ServSafe certification as required by the State, or attainment within first 30 days of employment.
- Current BLS CPR Card certified by American Heart Association.
