Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller or Accounting Manager to oversee and manage all accounting functions for our family-owned, mid-sized, multi-entity Agriculture businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities and staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, payroll, tax compliance, general accounting, cost accounting, and grower accounting.
- Manage cash flow and funding balances, ensuring adequate liquidity for business operations.
- Perform and/or ensure timely completion of bank reconciliations.
- Prepare, organize, and review financial statements for internal records and audits.
- Generate comprehensive financial reports for senior management to support decision-making.
- Align financial plans and budgets with company goals and objectives.
- Conduct financial analysis of company projects, capital expenditures, and new ventures to assess profitability and return on investment.
- Organize financial information and coordinate audits with both internal and external auditors.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external entities such as CPA/tax preparers, audit firms, banks, credit card companies, and lessors.
- Report directly to CFO, providing both verbal and written updates as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead, coordinate, and evaluate the accounting department's activities and performance.
- Manage accounting staff in accordance with company policies and legal regulations, providing guidance, training, and support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration with a focus on Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in accounting, some supervisory experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience in Farming/Agriculture, Manufacturing, or cost accounting related industry highly preferred.
- CPA certification is preferred, but not required.
- Strong expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, and GAAP.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and financial management systems.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting best practices, laws, and relevant state and national regulations.
- Highly analytical, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with senior management and effectively lead a team.
