POSITION TITLE: Cooperative and Adult Education CoordinatorSUPERVISED BY: Director and Assistant Director of CVCCDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties and Responsibilities for Cooperative Education Coordinator (.5): Plan and implement program objectives and activities for the co-op program including all community-based activities such as; co-op, shadowing, paid and non-paid work, and student apprenticeships. Develop co-op program budget. Prepare program documentation. Develop "general related instruction" curriculum.
Consult with public and private employment services. Maintain program records. Develop and distribute employer surveys as required. Prepare annual reports as required.
Participate in advisory committee activities. Carry out other co-op responsibilities as directed by the technical center director.Guidance duties within the co-op position: Cooperative work experience/student apprenticeship is designed to aid the transition from school- to-work. The implications are that cooperative/students apprenticeship coordinators must function effectively in a guidance role to facilitate this transition. This process involves: Orienting students, parents, school faculty, and administration to program policies and procedures.
Recruitment and interviewing of potential program participants. Providing occupational information to students, parents, and others. Counseling students about career planning. Planning career development with students and training supervisors.
Counseling students with behavioral, educational, and/or socio-economic problems as they relate to program involvement. Conducting parent conferences. Providing placement services to students and graduates. Acting as a training consultant to business and industry.
Maintaining open communications with center instructors, the school counseling coordinator, and the director. Duties and Responsibilities for Adult Education Coordinator (.5): Coordinate guidance and placement of adults in appropriate technical center programs.Coordinate community and business engagement and outreach.Coordinate services for non-traditional students.Gather information and coordinate efforts with regional agencies and employers in the area of economic development and job training.Team with Director in new program research and design.Develop and implement evening, weekend, and summer programming.Recruit students for evening, weekends, and summer programming.Team with School Counseling Coordinator to mentor students and counsel or refer to appropriate community agencies for additional services as needed.Staff evening, weekend, and summer programming.Coordinate the development of curriculum for evening, weekend, and summer programming.Establish the budget and program priorities for evening, weekend, and summer programming.Identify resources and write grants in support of evening, weekend, and summer programming.Create publicity publications for evening, weekend, summer programming.Oversight of registrar and administrative assistant in tasks such as filing, creating reports, budget record keeping, purchase orders, admissions, attendances records for evening, weekend, and summer classes, and associated teacher contracts.Additional duties as assigned by the Director.This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement.
