ASSISTANT BRANCH MANAGER

POSITION PURPOSE

 As a member of the Leadership Team, this position is responsible for providing valuable insights, information, ideas and expert opinions necessary to support the strategic direction and business plan objectives.  Responsible for motivating, empowering and impassioning staff in a manner consistent with the Credit Union’s Purpose and philosophy; to create a culture where staff understand they are the key to our success and have a personally vested interest in the Credit Union.  Under the general direction of the Branch Manager, provide supervision, direction and leadership to all sales and referral staff within the branch by motivating, coaching and holding them accountable to the goals outlined for the branch. Provide ongoing technical training as necessary, as well as providing a team concept throughout the branch supporting our financial goals. Help lead the team to deliver consistent and high-level service while providing oversite to daily operations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Culture (20%)

  • Inspire, motivate, and empower staff to achieve exceptional service and performance goals.
  • Act as a role model for accountability, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Foster open communication and a collaborative, supportive team culture.

 Coaching and Development (20%)

  • Provide actionable coaching and development opportunities for staff.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, emphasizing growth and accountability.
  • Recognize achievements and address areas needing improvement.

 Strategic Execution and Critical Thinking (15%)

  • Develop and implement strategies to meet or exceed branch goals.
  • Use data and market insights to optimize operations and identify new opportunities.
  • Solve complex challenges with sustainable, data-driven solutions.

 Operational Excellence (15%)

  • Maintain high standards for branch organization and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expertise to resolve member concerns effectively.

 Sales and Member Engagement (15%)

  • Lead a proactive sales culture to deepen member relationships.
  • Drive the branch in surpassing sales and service goals.
  • Monitor product performance and recommend improvements.

 Administrative and Reporting (10%)

  • Prepare performance reports and identify process improvements.
  • Attend training and ensure compliance with internal and external policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 Community Engagement (5%)

  • Represent the Credit Union at community events, building external relationships.
  • Advocate for local initiatives to enhance goodwill and member loyalty.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Strong leadership and development skills to effectively train and motivate staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be goal oriented with a strong desire to exceed established expectations.
  • Strong desire to market and sell Credit Union products and services.
  • Effectively able to manage multiple projects and work through constant interruptions.
  • Ability to flex schedule to meet the needs of members.
  • High level of computer literacy with full understanding of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Working knowledge of current State, Federal, and other regulations applicable to consumer lending and savings.
  • Valid driver's license and automotive insurance required.

 

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  •  Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field or equivalent work experience in either business or sales management is required.

  • Ability to work branch hours including Saturdays
  • Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals and projects.
  • Ability to sit or stand within proximity of a computer terminal for extended periods.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
