POSITION PURPOSE
The Manager, Community Engagement at Central Willamette Credit Union (CWCU) is pivotal in identifying, developing and executing community investment strategies, fostering strategic partnerships, CU advocacy, promoting financial education & wellness initiatives in alignment with CWCU’s growth goals. Reporting directly to the CMO and working with other executives across the organization, is integral in fostering strong relationships with community stakeholders and partners, advocating for social responsibility, and championing CWCU’s mission, vision, and values while driving a positive impact on people’s lives.

This role is chiefly responsible for identifying community partnerships and other related opportunities for expanding CWCU’s brand equity and growth goals. The Manager will stay abreast of evolving community trends, adapt strategic initiatives, and strengthen awareness of CWCU’s brand within the communities it serves. They will cultivate relationships with local stakeholders and coordinate the implementation of community initiatives in collaboration with internal and external leaders, team members, and volunteers. Responsible for spearheading the credit union’s community involvement, sponsorships, and philanthropic activities. They will also lead the development, implementation, education, management, and measurement of corporate social responsibility programs to align with CWCU’s mission, vision, and values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Investment:
• Lead efforts in identifying and supporting community organizations aligned with CWCU’s values and community goals.
• Oversee the strategy for CWCU’s charitable donations and grants in line with our strategic objectives and budget.
• Oversee the allocation of investments and manage volunteer resources to maximize impact and address community needs.

Strategic Partnerships:
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with local organizations, businesses, and educational institutions to drive collaborative community development initiatives that support CWCU’s brand equity and growth.
• Collaborate with partners to deliver financial wellness workshops and initiatives aimed at supporting the overall well-being of community members.
• Contribute to the development and execution of CWCU’s community engagement strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational business goals and objectives.
• Continuously evaluate and adapt community engagement initiatives to meet evolving CWCU community needs and priorities.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for CWCU’s community strategic partners.

Government Relations & Advocacy:
• Engage in advocacy efforts at the state and federal levels to support policies and legislation that benefit CWCU members and the broader community.
• Monitor legislative developments and provide analysis on their potential impact on community well-being.
• Represent the CWCU brand at various business, community, education, and legislative events to foster relationships and advocate for the credit union’s interests.

Financial Education & Literacy:
• Drive the strategy for comprehensive financial education programs targeting individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
• Manage the deployment of resources to support workshops to educational institutions, partners, and marginalized communities to promote financial well-being and economic empowerment.

Team Leadership
• Provide leadership and coaching to community engagement officers.
• Set clear goals and objectives for the team, ensuring alignment with CWCU’s community engagement strategy and organizational mission.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, promoting professional development and growth opportunities for team members.

Impact Reporting:
• Lead the process of community impact measurement, including tracking, reporting, budgeting and performance of community engagement activities towards helping CWCU meet key organizational goals.

Event Representation:
• Act as CWCU’s ambassador at community and educational events, enhancing our brand’s visibility and connection with the community.
• Performs all responsibilities in accordance with CW Values, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.

• Attend training and comply with CWCU policies and procedures as well as applicable State and Federal regulations
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proven ability to build, maintain, and grow strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Must have a strong set of negotiation skills.
• Strong understanding of community dynamics, social issues, and economic trends.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong fluency in community affairs and communications best practices.
• Strong storytelling, writing, and communication skills.
• Event planning skills which include excellent organization, carrying out multiple tasks at the same time, thorough and clear communication with all event stakeholders, creative problem solving and high level of attention to detail.
• The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively both with direction and independently.
• Experience using MS Office Suite

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, education, or comparable field preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively senior level community engagement experience, non-profit management or related fields.
• Familiarity with CU advocacy, financial literacy concepts and the credit union industry preferred but not required.
