QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor's degree required; Minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Healthcare experience preferred.
2. Broad knowledge and experience in employment law and leading employee relations and active recruitment functions / strategies required.
3. HRIS and benefits experience strongly preferred.
4. Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification strongly preferred.
5. Maintains a valid Michigan driver's license and has the availability of a reliable, licensed, and insured vehicle for use on the job, vehicle must be insured in accordance with the State of Michigan.
6. Experience providing leadership development, education, training, and coaching preferred.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
8. Remains up to date on all routine immunizations required by LARA and agency policy.
SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for partnering with CHRO in implementing and monitoring the organization's human resources functions in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization. Responsible for handling employee relations matters, some complex, for assigned areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Primary Duties
1. Advises leadership on the organization's human resources programs relative to recruitment and selection, orientation, compensation, and employee relations.
2. Partners with CHRO to develop and administer the Human Resources policies and procedures of Northstar Care Community. Assists in review of the policies as necessary and ensures consistent application of policies throughout the organization.
3. Provides support in the consistent practices of the compensation philosophy and model. Ensures that the pay for performance philosophy is communicated, understood, and followed in a meaningful manner.
4. Assists with development and implementation of personnel development programs. Also supports the organization's leaders with implementation of the performance improvement process with under-performing employees.
5. Assists with management of employee communication and feedback through satisfaction surveys, newsletters, task forces, etc.
6. Performs initial investigations into complaints of harassment, discrimination and other violations of policies, federal and state laws regarding employment.
7. Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of morale and motivation.
8. Oversees the implementation of several Human Resources programs through department staff. Monitors administration of established standards and procedures. Identifies opportunities for improvement and resolves discrepancies.
9. Oversees the delegation and development of Northstar Care Community onboarding processes and programming.
10. Travel required. Some extensive travel may be required.
Global Leadership & Supervisory Duties
1. Works to understand, interpret, adhere to, and apply Agency policies and procedures accurately and constructively.
2. Provides oversight of responsible areas for the Agency's budget.
3. Hires new staff in accordance with established procedures. Orients or delegates orientation of new employees and ensures that employees have adequate ongoing training and development.
4. Establishes and communicates job responsibilities, performance standards, priorities, and expectations to staff.
5. Provides support to generalists in consultation on employee discipline issues (i.e., policy violations, performance issues) and terminations.
6. Promotes and ensures adherence to Northstar Care Community's Workplace Safety Program.
7. All other related duties as assigned by CHRO.
