QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
1. Associate degree required; bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a health care or non-profit setting.
2. Previous volunteer experience or experience with palliative and quality end of life care preferred.
3. Previous managerial / supervisory or human resources and / or customer service experience preferred.
4. Ability to coordinate and facilitate quality volunteer services.
5. Maintains a valid Michigan driver’s license and has the availability of a reliable, licensed and insured vehicle for use on the job, vehicle must be insured in accordance with the State of Michigan.
6. Remains up-to-date on all routine immunizations required by LARA and agency policy.
SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for implementing the volunteer program as planned, including : interviewing, orientation, training, retention and coordination of volunteers for all services and programs. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required as well as travel throughout Centrica Care Navigators service area. Position will incorporate departmental cross-training opportunities to enhance team members’ skillsets and flexibility.
R ESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Role Responsibilities
- Matches volunteers based on their interests and skills to the appropriate service opportunities, fulfilling the needs of the agency as well as the individual; communicates and inspires participation in service opportunities.
- Schedules, arranges shadowing, and coordinates and / or delivers role-specific training to ensure competence in volunteer assignment.
- Completes the Volunteer Plan of Care related to interventions / services of assigned volunteers.
- Supervises volunteers in their performance of duties through the review of daily logs and consultation with agency staff to provide continuous feedback, periodic and timely performance evaluations, and special guidance when requested or required.
- Conducts group and solo orientation and training of all volunteers on an as needed basis, in alignment with department goals.
- Responds to inquiries in a timely manner regarding volunteer opportunities; interviews and screens potential volunteers as assigned. Work with potential volunteers through the onboarding process.
- Conducts in person outreach to active volunteers and participates in recruitment strategies.
- Help plan and conduct in person training and lunch and learns for active volunteers. as well as help plan and conduct other volunteer appreciation events throughout the year.
- Implements and coordinates yearly recertification and continuing education programs as established by the Manager of Community Engagement and assists with evaluating the volunteer training program. Assists with updating and developing training materials as required and alerts volunteers to relevant educational / in-service opportunities.
- Recommend and work with the Manager of Community Engagement to implement any changes to the volunteer program to meet the needs of the agency and the patient / family / caregiver.
- Actively participates in department-wide performance improvement activities and works to support and achieve department goals.
Duties
