The Big Picture (Job Role, Expectations, etc.):
This position provides student support for Centriq’s KC, STL, and Virtual IT training program. This role will create and implement student support strategies to aid in student retention, engagement, and successful program completion. It will also provide behind-the-scenes operational support for career readiness initiatives and support of Centriq Alumni. The ideal candidate will thrive on innovating with a “fail forward” mindset, going above and beyond to help our students succeed, maintaining proactive communication with staff and students, and relationship building through online modalities.
Your Day-to-Day:
The Big Picture (Job Role, Expectations, etc.):
This position provides student support for Centriq’s KC, STL, and Virtual IT training program. This role will create and implement student support strategies to aid in student retention, engagement, and successful program completion. It will also provide behind-the-scenes operational support for career readiness initiatives and support of Centriq Alumni. The ideal candidate will thrive on innovating with a “fail forward” mindset, going above and beyond to help our students succeed, maintaining proactive communication with staff and students, and relationship building through online modalities.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Build personal rapport with students utilizing in person meetings, Pronto, Zoom, and Canvas (LMS) to support their learning goals so they can effectively transition into an IT career.
- Mentor, coach, and advise diverse student population, including those who are VA-funded on academic progress, attendance concerns, learning barriers, and life skills.
- Periodic travel (quarterly) to STL campus to provide in-person guidance, to foster deeper connection and to ensure effective support and engagement with students outside of the KC campus.
- Assist in building the exceptional Centriq student experience for every cohort, including planning frequent in person and virtual student events to increase student engagement and retention.
- Regularly create and share student success resources and tools – including written posts, graphics, and videos – utilizing Pronto and Canvas.
- Collaborate closely with Instructors and Technical Coaches to address student concerns in a direct, compassionate way, to identify support resources for varying learning styles and skill levels, and to create written success plans.
- Ensure proper and timely documentation on student progress and interactions in the required channels.
- Coordinate student schedule changes, as needed.
- Plan in person and virtual student events to increase student engagement and retention, monthly and quarterly.
- Research and implement new student success and engagement initiatives for KC, STL, and Virtual students accordingly.
- Provide support to career readiness initiatives, including but not limited to: assistance with sourcing jobs to post to students and identifying potential company partners in student markets.
- Foster strong relationships with alumni through consistent communication, events, and networking opportunities to enhance their engagement with the organization and promote a sense of community.
- Flexibility to work some evening hours as needed to accommodate students' schedules.
- Serve on a team of testing proctors to cover a one-hour shift and back up support for our testing center.
- Actively participate as a key member of the company culture committee, leveraging insights gained from student interactions to contribute valuable perspectives and ideas, promoting an inclusive environment for both students and staff members
- Balance remote and on-premises work responsibilities by being present on campus 3 to 4 days a week, allowing for meaningful in-person student interactions and collaboration with colleagues, while also effectively managing remote tasks to ensure consistent support and guidance to students.
The Experience You'll Need to Succeed:
- 1 years of professional experience working in an advisor or student support role.
- Ability to work effectively and communicate proactively with cross functional teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Highly motivated self-starter who is driven to complete work in a timely manner.
- High standards for quality, customer service, and student experience.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, time management, and documentation skills.
- Effectively prioritize high volumes of messages via Pronto, phone, email, and Canvas.
- Familiar with Learning Management Systems (Canvas preferred) and M365 Apps.
