Carlisle Brake & Friction designs and manufactures a full solution set of braking products. These include: dry disc caliper brakes, drum brakes and mechanical brakes for both service and park applications. Additionally, we manufacture both wet and dry friction materials used for wet brakes, brake linings, clutches, fuel cells, and transmissions. We also design and deliver hydraulic actuation, including hydraulic valves, master cylinders, adjustors, and boosted master cylinders.
Areas of Responsibility
The primary function of the individual will be to machine, assemble, fabricate jigs, fixtures and or custom tooling to support manufacturing for off-highway braking components. Must be able to meet tight tolerance drawing requirements through selection of processes based on material and process requirements.
Other responsibilities include the repair of worn or broken tooling, the repair of worn or broken machine components, re-working existing tooling into new tools, cleaning and repair of chucks, etc.
Job Duties
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical Associate degree preferred or combination of education and work experience. Tool & Die apprenticeship preferred.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment, reading blueprints, operating machining equipment and producing a physical product.

Job Duties
- Operate and program CNC equipment with conversational controls.
- Operate manual lathes, mills, and saws.
- Work from blueprints and sketches.
- Work with various hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
- Trouble shoot machine fixture and work holding problems.
- Blanchard and surface grinder operation.
- Develop strategy for work holding projects.
- Support molding development and improvement projects.
- Select and build own machine tooling.
- Maintain clean work area and assist in cleaning common areas of the shop.
- Disassemble, clean and repair friction molds.
- Diagnose hydraulic work holding for repair.
- Trouble shoot problems and assist production
- Basic welding and fabrication skills.
- Heat treating and material selection.
