Job Summary
The Feed & Grain Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of corn and ingredient receiving and quality control. This position must work with farmers and corn originator to coordinate corn and ingredient deliveries. It will also oversee all scale house operations and work with the Feed Mill Manager to ensure that enough ingredients are in inventory. It will coordinate with BUL and buyers on manure scheduling and sampling.
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate movement of grain, grain quality and unloading corn and ingredient trucks.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the feed mill operations and assist with overseeing daily operations.
- Ensure ingredients meet standards and are received into the proper location.
- Coordinate with farmers and corn originator on purchase and delivery schedule of corn and ingredients.
- Responsible for the manure management program.
- Coordinate with BUL and Buyer on manure scheduling and sampling.
- Manage manure for efficient use of space and compost inventories, loading schedule, and turning times.
- Works closely with Feed Mill team to ensure proper delivery of ingredients.
- Maintain records of business transactions and product inventories.
- Consult with the Feed Mill manager and Grain Originator to ensure the flow of the grain is efficient.
- Maintain records as required by federal and state regulations and company policies.
- Secure proper licenses and permits for grain facility; ensure grain facility meet federal, state, and OSHA regulations and company insurance provider requirements.
- Possess a strong understanding of grain quality, variables, and associated pricing.
- Address customer complaints and resolve them promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Highschool Diploma
- Knowledge of grain marketing and trading fundamentals and computers including Microsoft Office, internal accounting system, scale software, and grain trading websites
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred (i.e., Agri-Business, Animal Science, etc.) or commensurate experience.
Work Environment
