What You Will be Doing :
This position manages sitewide radiation protection programs and personnel to ensure compliance with a Radioactive Material License issued by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
Key Deliverables :
- Serve as Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) in support of the site Radioactive Material License
- Provide overall direction and supervision of the work duties of Health Physics Technicians
- Assign and direct Health Physics Technicians to perform field activities and uses their radiological survey data to compare against the documented requirements to determine if controls are being implemented
- Review, approve and support implementation of all requested site Radioactive Material License amendment requests
- Ensure compliance with site Radioactive Material License and supporting documentation by developing and maintaining site radiological and licensing related training
- Review and approve site radiological surveys and ensure records of surveys are properly managed.
- Maintain radiological program procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Manage site radiation and contamination monitoring programs to ensure radiological exposures to the public are below state limits are As Low as Reasonably Achievable (ALARA)
- Investigate exposures or incidents identified through monitoring programs or other means
- In the absence of Health Physics / Radiological Controls Technicians, perform source checks on radiological instrumentation, area routine surveys and radiological free release of material
- In the absence of Industrial Hygiene Technicians, perform field monitoring for industrial hygiene related hazards / conditions
- Support the facility in resolution of complex safety issues
- Assist with other Regulatory Organization duties and responsibilities as needed

Candidates for positions requiring a security clearance are required to be tested for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR 707.4 prior to an offer of employment being made. In addition, once employe, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a DOE security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.
