Position Requirements
- PSYCH RN
- 12 HOUR NIGHTS
- 7P-7A
- NY license required
- BLS required
- 12 beds on unit
- Low patient ratios
- BS in Nursing preferred.
- EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing;
- The Behavioral Health Unit Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, directing, and coordinating patient care and procedures within a small 12-bed unit in a manner that is efficient, empathetic, timely, and tailored to the age of patients served (ages 45 and up). The Behavioral Health Nurse will provide emotional support and therapeutic communication to patients and families and will contribute to the treatment team fostering a supportive and healing environment for the patients being served.
- Assess patients' mental health status and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond promptly to crises.
- Provide therapeutic support and education to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and nursing standards.
- Proficiency in patient assessment and care planning.
- Knowledge of psychiatric medications and treatment protocols.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
