MHM Services, a Centurion company, is proud to be the provider of mental health services to the California Department of State Hospitals Forensic Assertive Community Treatment Program (FACT). The FACT program is a statewide system that provides an unlocked, supervised living environment with 24-hour staffing. Services needed to support community reintegration include the following: Forensic mental health treatment through individual and group therapy settings, life skills training, day socialization groups, collateral contacts, home visits, substance abuse screenings, psychiatric services, case management, court reports, psychological assessments.
We are currently seeking a full-time Clinical Psychologist to join our team as an Assistant Program Director in Vallejo, CA.
Position Overview
Responsible for provision of core services for FACT clients with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders and prior legal involvement for violent offenses. Must ensure community and client safety at all times. Clients reside in 24/7 housing facility.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide forensic clients with individual and group therapy. Complete case management, collateral contacts, personal property searches for contraband, and obtain urine specimens for drug testing. Complete thorough clinical documentation within 24 hours of service being delivered.
- Clinical notes following any mental health service which indicate: services provided; client’s response/interaction; specific problem behaviors, warning signs and/or any pertinent observations; actions taken in response to these; over time, clinical notes reflect that the criminal history, mental illness and treatment plan are addressed during service contacts.
- Conducts risk assessments to address client-specific criminogenic risk factors, including identification of warning signs, precursors, warning signs, criminal thinking styles and patterns, and high-risk conditions/situations.
- Author forensic treatment plans in collaboration with the clients. Help clients identify achievable forensically-focused goals where progress can be objectively measured.
- Provide rotating on-call services during afterhours and weekend/holidays for crisis response to assigned housing facility.
- Provide expert witness testimony when needed.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the Judiciary, District Attorneys, Public Defenders, Parole Agents, DSH, and local law enforcement officials.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the community agencies that could positively impact community opportunities for FACT clients.
- Participates in regular clinical and administrative meetings.
- Holds regular progress meetings with home CONREP sites.
- Identifies and maintains professional boundaries to preserve the integrity of the therapeutic process and relationship.
- Ensures compliance with Company confidentiality policies, and Federal and State laws, regulations, and guidelines including HIPAA.
- Delivers care in a nonjudgmental/nondiscriminatory manner to protect the autonomy, dignity and rights of FACT clients.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Must possess general good health and retain sufficient stamina, agility and visual and auditory acuity necessary to perform all duties required.
- Physical activity includes walking, climbing, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and carrying; repetitive physical activity such as key/data entry; repetitive mental activity such as checking entries in a report, etc.
- May be required to work throughout a grouping of facilities or travel between multiple facilities.
- Potential exposure to internal and external hazardous materials, including but not limited to: blood and blood borne pathogens, infectious/communicable diseases, and physical injury from clients.

Qualifications
Education/Credentials/Experience
- Must be a licensed psychologist, PhD or PsyD
- CA license required
- Two years of experience in forensic mental health, which may include substance abuse counseling, preferred.
- Community-based mental health and forensic experience preferred.
- Risk assessment experience preferred.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Experienced with Word and Excel.
- Must maintain current tuberculosis screening documentation and active CPR certification.
- Must be able to pass background investigation and jail/hospital clearance.
40 hours per week. Tuesday through Saturday schedule. 8:00am-4:30pm.
$130,000/yr. Full benefits included.
