The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant in the produce, consumer goods, or food manufacturing or similar industry. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial statements and assisting management with creating strategic plans for financial operations. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Expected starting base salary of $160,000 to $180,000 per year.

- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures while adhering to standards.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure efficient workflows.
- Provide financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting key data points.
- Prepare timely and accurate daily and monthly financial reports, regulatory filings, and financial packages.
- Coordinate the financial statement close process and manage relationships with external auditors during annual audits.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience in accounting or a related field, with public accounting experience (preferably Big 4) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and familiarity with accounting software like Produce Pro or Microsoft D365 is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and general ledger functions.
- Auditing experience is preferred, along with expertise in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills to support strategic financial planning.
- Ability to motivate, develop, and manage employees to achieve departmental goals effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to evaluate and implement solutions for complex issues.
- Strong communication skills for effectively conveying financial insights and collaborating across teams.
- Knowledge and experience in managing financial resources, contracts, and operational strategies to support organizational success.
