Position Summary:
This role will play a key role in managing the accounting operations of the Company by assisting in the preparation of financial statements, maintenance of internal controls, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role will oversee all operational accounting, including general ledger activities, payroll, accounts payable, stock compensation expense, month end accruals, and assist in the review of inventory costing, cost of sales, fixed assets, and revenue recognition. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in operational accounting, process improvement and streamlining accounting operations. This position reports to the Vice President, Corporate Controller. This position can be based out of Westlake Village, CA, Danbury, CT or Boston, MA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage the monthly and quarterly financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements, ensuring review of all journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Schedule and lead monthly and quarterly close meetings to ensure coordination amongst the team.
- Responsible for operational accounting activities for all processes including payroll, procure to pay, stock compensation, month end accruals, fixed assets, inventory, cost of sales, and revenue recognition.
- Ensure there are effective internal controls, policies, and procedures. Identify and assess any potential gaps and work with the VP, Corporate Controller to mitigate them.
- Oversee and develop a team of 3-5 direct reports and 3-5 indirect reports to create a high-performing team.
- Inspire team to increase financial accuracy and transparency with clear definitions and good standards of operations.
- Coordinate with external auditors, legal teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Coordinate and manage documentation and testing of internal controls related to all financial processes to ensure SOX 404 compliance. Work closely with accounting team, internal audit and external auditors to address control deficiencies.
- Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.
- Participate as a team member in the design and implementation of an ERP system in the context of IT-dependent SOX controls related to areas of responsibilities.
- Act as a trusted partner and colleague to the organization.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Degree in accounting or equivalent required. CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, preferably with public accounting experience.
- Proven track record running efficient accounting operations, preferably in a SOX environment.
- Experience leading successful talent management, development and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Life science / biotech experience a plus.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to articulate accounting rules and conventions in the context of our business needs.
- Strong team orientation.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Salary : $176,000 - $264,000
