Description
CEPTON, a leading intelligent lidar solution provider, is seeking a highly skilled Senior System Engineer in the New Product Introduction (NPI) team . This role will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between different product development phases, ensuring a seamless transition from concept to matured product. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality to deliver high-quality products on time.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in optical, mechanical, and electronic systems, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- LiDAR System Integration and Performance Optimization :
o Develop robust LiDar system integration processes.
o Automate validation processes to enhance performance improvement and iteration cycle efficiency.
o Troubleshoot process issues and implement effective solutions.
o Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reliability.
o Develop and execute validation and reliability test plans.
o Analyze test data and perform failure mode analysis to identify and address system-level performance and reliability concerns.
o Collaborate with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams to scale system integration and metrology processes into production pipelines.
o Support volume production maturity and assist key customers in understanding LiDAR use cases.
o Maintain detailed documentation of metrology processes, calibration protocols, testing results, and system performance.
o Present findings, insights, and technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders effectively.
Qualifications
o Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred.
o Candidates with a Master's degree and significant relevant experience will also be considered.
o Fresh graduates with strong technical expertise are encouraged to apply.
o Expertise in bringing up optical sensing systems.
o Experience with optical product performance validation and reliability testing, with familiarity in corresponding validation methodologies.
o Capable of developing test plans based on specifications or risk assessments.
o Proficiency in scientific tools such as Python or MATLAB for test automation, data processing, and analysis.
o Familiarity with high-speed mixed-signal electronics, circuitry theory, and mechanical systems (e.g., stack-up error analysis, servo systems) is a plus.
o Proven experience in solving complex technical challenges involving optical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
o Ability to conduct systematic system-level analysis, develop experiments, and interpret data methodically.
o Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable, with a strong work ethic under pressure.
o Effective team player, capable of leading cross-functional teams and collaborating in a fast-paced R&D environment.
o Experience of manufacturing process development and validation.
o Experience with LiDAR, IR laser systems, and point cloud calibration processes.

The pay range for this role is $100,000-$140,000 . Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and / or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
