The Role
As a key member of our Program Management team, you will oversee our clients’ projects within the water utilities sector, specifically focusing on water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pipelines, and lift stations. This role involves managing the full lifecycle of projects, from planning and engineering design to construction and completion. The Senior Project Manager will serve as the Owner’s representative, coordinating with the Engineer-of-Record (EOR), Construction Contractor, and stakeholders, or working with the EOR, CMAR, and Owner to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all construction activities related to water and wastewater pipelines, lift stations, and associated infrastructure, ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure project execution aligns with timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Coordinate site logistics, safety protocols, and construction schedules, ensuring seamless communication among all parties.
- Lead regular site inspections to monitor progress and uphold quality and regulatory standards.
- Identify and resolve project challenges, providing technical guidance to contractors and project teams.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations applicable to water and wastewater projects.
- Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures, ensuring financial objectives are met.
- Maintain accurate documentation of project progress, including change orders, RFIs, and reports.
- Liaise with municipal authorities, consultants, and property management teams to secure necessary permits and approvals.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Registered Architect (R.A.)
- 10 years of experience in water transmission, sewer collection, and reclaimed water pipeline projects, with a minimum pipeline diameter of 42 inches and a project value of at least $30 million.
- 10 years of experience in lift station projects, involving pumps with a minimum capacity of 20 horsepower, with a project value of at least $30 million.
- Proven expertise in design-bid-build and design-build project delivery methods.
- Extensive experience in design, permitting, and project management within the water and wastewater infrastructure sector.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes related to water and wastewater systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Certifications (one or more):
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM or CMMA)
- Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
Work Environment:
This position may involve both office-based work and site visits to project locations, requiring occasional travel to oversee project progress and resolve on-site issues.
