What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal position at CESA 6?
The school principal serves as the educational leader and is responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school. Achieving academic excellence requires that the school principal direct and nurture all members of the school staff hired by the Board of Directors and communicate effectively with parents. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for scheduling, curriculum development, extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior
- Manage, evaluate, and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of the school
- Establish the master schedule
- Establish the official school calendar and schedule of school sponsored events
- Establish procedures that create and maintain attractive, organized, functional, healthy, clean, and safe facilities
- Follow financial policies established by the Board of Directors
- Create the annual budget and make fiscally responsible decisions
- Communicate with the Board of Directors regularly about the needs, successes, and general operation of the school\
- Present all course offerings, textbook adoption, and other instructional matters requiring board action
- Provide leadership in the supervision of programs designed to foster the physical, mental, academic, and emotional well-being of students
- Select, retain, reassign, evaluate, and promote all building personnel.
- Work with the community and other agencies on issues that relate to school and/or students
- Attends state and national professional meetings
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Work toward proficiency in the principal domains of Wisconsin’s Educator Effectiveness System
- Coordinate the school’s co-curricular activity program
- Perform other tasks and duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience, Education and Licensure:
- Three or more years of school administrative experience
- Wisconsin DPI licensure relevant to the position
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of charter policies and regulations.
- Knowledge of academic career planning and technical education
- Knowledge of competency-based learning
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Normal office / classroom environment with moderate noise levels.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computers and/or related equipment
