Position Overview
Support critical cardiac catheterization procedures at the Miami VA Healthcare System by providing specialized technical expertise in cardiovascular diagnostics and therapeutic procedures. This role directly impacts veteran patient care through the operation of advanced cardiac imaging and monitoring equipment.
Details:
- Location: Miami VA Healthcare System, Miami FL
- Position Type: Full-time with on-call rotation
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain specialized cardiac catheterization equipment including X-fluoroscopy, intravascular ultrasound, and hemodynamic monitoring systems
- Assist in cardiac procedures including biopsies, valve replacements, and coronary interventions
- Prepare sterile field and maintain strict infection control protocols
- Monitor patient vital signs and assist with patient preparation and transport
- Document procedures in VA electronic health records using CPRS and XPER systems
- Perform quality control checks and maintain equipment according to VA standards
- Participate in on-call rotation providing 24/7 emergency coverage
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team including physicians, nurses, and other technicians
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's degree or equivalent in related healthcare field
- Current RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification
- Minimum 2 years current experience within last 6 months in cardiac catheterization lab
- Current ACLS and BLS certification
- Must reside within 30-minute radius of facility for on-call response
- Ability to be on-site within 60 minutes when on call
- Experience with cardiac imaging systems and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
- Proficiency in electronic health record documentation
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in related healthcare field
- Prior VA or military healthcare facility experience
- Experience with Phillips XPER system
- Additional cardiovascular specialty certifications
Regular schedule is Monday-Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM with rotating on-call responsibilities for nights, weekends, and holidays.
