What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiovascular Technician position at Purple Cow Recruiting?
SCOPE: The Certified Medical Instrument Technicians (Cardiovascular Technicians) function independently as a member of the cardiovascular lab and reports to the nurse manager. The technician works with the patient care team that includes registered nurses, cardiovascular technologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other providers. The Cardiovascular Technicians are responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of systems to assure the smooth and efficient flow of patients for procedures in the Cardiovascular Lab.
SHIFT
The shift coverage will be posted a minimum of 3 weeks in advance. Contract key personnel will be scheduled (Monday - Friday) for the following shift:
• 7:30 am 4:00 pm
On-call services are required during hours the clinic is closed as described herein. Contractor key personnel must stay or live within a 30-minute radius of the Miami facility to perform urgent/emergency procedures when the employee is on-call.
Cardiac procedures include but are not limited to:
• Biopsies
• Aortic Valve Replacements
• Pericardiocentesis
• Valvuloplasty
• Peripheral and intracardiac ultrasound studies
• Quality control of all the equipment in use
• Intracoronary rotablator
• Temporary intravenous pacemakers
• Quality control on transfer of images and CPRS documentation using XPER Phillips System
• UDI tracking
• Intracoronary and ultrasound/Spectroscopy Chemogram
• Intra-cardiac Ultrasound
The work requires the contractor’s key personnel to record and interpret data from highly specialized x-ray, infrared, mechanical, electrical, electronic, ultrasonic, and digital computerized systems. The cardiovascular technicians must possesses knowledge of all cardiac procedures taking place in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab through knowledge of cardiac anatomy/physiology/pathology.
QUALIFICATIONS
- RCIS or RCES certification.
- Minimum of two (2) years current experience (within the last 6 months) in a busy cardiac catheterization lab/operating room with experience in diagnostics and therapeutic procedures focusing on coronary arteries which involves: transporting patients, preparation for the procedures such as prepping the access site, placing monitor including oxygen saturation sensor, blood pressure cuff, preparation of sterile field, draping patient following strict sterile techniques, transducer set ups, calibration and operation of complex technical equipment for the invasive cardiac procedures such as transferring images to cardiology PACs system, X-fluoroscopy equipment for coronary/peripheral angiography procedures, Intravascular Ultrasound Imaging/Pressure wire system, Rotablator, Medrad- Injector, Angio jet Thrombectomy System, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Defibrillator, Bio sense Webster/BP Bard System, Valley Force.
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH REQUIREMENTS STANDARD INFECTION CONTROL MEASURES (PPD, IMMUNIZATIONS, ETC.):
Tests shall be current within the past year.
TUBERCULOSIS TESTING: Proof of a negative Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA)
MEASLES, MUMPS, & RUBELLA TESTING: Proof of immunity for all technicians
VARICELLA: Proof of immunity for all technicians
ACCELLULAR PERTUSSIS: Proof of 1 dose of Tdap vaccination for all technicians
INFLUENZA: Proof that technician has received the annual Influenza vaccine unless it is contraindicated. If the technician has a medical contraindication to the vaccine they shall be required to wear a mask during the Influenza season.
