CFO Hub is looking for a Full-time Cost Accountant for a client , this position is not with CFO Hub.
A well-established large-scale fabrication and machining solutions company is looking for a Project Cost Accountant to join their growing team!
Our client manufactures large-scale, metal fabricated and machined precision components and equipment used predominantly in defense, aerospace, spaceflight, and precision industrial markets. Our subsidiaries work with clients to provide products in accordance with customers’ drawings and specifications.
This position is primarily responsible for calculating & booking POC entries for large DOD manufacturing projects and attends BAF meetings (Budget / Actual / Forecast) to gather data for booking the POC entries. In addition, ensure accurate and timely analysis of various general ledger accounts by researching / analyzing accounts; then preparing journal entries and accruals. The candidate must be very hands-on, detail oriented, and have strong organization and communication skills.
Responsibilities :
POC calculation & booking of related journal entries
Establish standards for conversion costs and document processes, including variance analysis and WIP valuation for POC
accounting.
Review booking documents and set up new projects, change orders, and service agreements accurately and on time in the ERP system.
Process changes in estimates for active projects accurately and on time in the ERP system.
Close out projects in ERP system upon completion.
Handle preparation and review of WIP analysis after each payroll cycle.
Review and validate monthly charges to active projects and resolve discrepancies.
Enter time charged to jobs from weekly timesheets.
Month-end closing activities including journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, analysis, verification, and preparation of supporting schedules
Works on various special projects, support of external auditors during quarterly reviews / annual audits and other ad-hoc assignments as directed
Actively coordinate and communicate with the accounting / finance teams throughout the monthly close process
Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years of job costing and / or percentage of completion accounting experience.
- Minimum 5 years' relevant accounting experience in general ledger accounting
- Prior Project Accounting experience preferred
- Experience with accounting software (Epicor)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including ability to construct formulas with accurate syntax, using advanced functions, and pivot tables.
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
