Integral to the Product Portfolio, the Planning and Product Analyst is solely responsible for turning data into actionable insights and cementing the company’s market position. Responsibilities range from macro-level competitive analysis to market analysis and gap review, to product positioning and innovation. This holistic planning role works closely with senior leadership across the teams to understand supply and Commercial functions such as Revenue Management to maximize yield and generate demand. The role demands a skill set across technology platforms such as Python, Excel, and Tableau.
This role is responsible for various planning functions that optimize our market position and revenue and will develop and evaluate deployment scenarios. The Analyst is responsible for developing and optimizing the annual product lineup and strategic land pricing. This position is responsible for tracking the competitive environment and bed supply and providing recommendations for product innovation and provides risk analysis of the existing product.
The incumbent will need to manage several key aspects of the product from how it is communicated to how it is operated. They will provide expertise and direction that are both guest-centric and revenue optimal when designing new products and programs. They will be the architect of the product, making decisions that direct the product based on analysis and metrics they identify. They will manage key relationships with external partners where they will be the primary contact for the business.
Essential Functions:
- Participate in optimizing deployment and itinerary planning. Prepare necessary documentation as needed. Research and analyze berth availability. Provide solutions/alternatives that maintain commercial appeal.
- Develop the core product lineup to generate consumer demand, maximize revenue, and provide an excellent customer experience. Analyze and review various product lineup options and outline clear benefits/tradeoffs for each option. Look for opportunities to tweak the lineup to enable more efficient operations with no adverse impact to customer experience. Prepare and hand-off the documents needed to build the lineup.
- Monitor competitive product and deployment changes. Maintain reporting on market share to identify Y/Y changes in regional bed supply. Identify opportunities to grow leadership in the competitive landscape.
- Outline and develop new product strategies. Research new ports/opportunities. Develop new products adjacent to existing products.
- Serve as the company’s representative, working on securing port reservations and managing the permit allocation process.
- Participate in service score review with land operations team to ensure product is being delivered as specified. Work with HAP operations team to identify opportunities to improve guest experience.
- Outline strategy for new planning year, coordinate with marketing, pricing, and product teams to execute product launch. Set strategic land pricing at product launch.
- Act as the business lead for the new planning tool. Work with the science team to ensure the program supports the business needs and functions accurately. Outline SOW, administer UAT principles, confirm success of the program.
- Serve as destination expert and present training to sales, customer service, travel agencies, etc.
- Develop new tools to enable the team to further optimize use of and visibility into existing and new products and assets (Price by ship, Itinerary Planning Tool, Pricing Auditor, Dynamic Juggler Format, etc.).
- Work with vendors to develop new programs that help to differentiate the company and maintain leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strategic Planning, Analytics, Project Management, Product Management
Minimum Experience:
- 5 years of relevant experience. Experience in travel, hospitality, data analysis, planning, or product management/development preferred. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized, analytical, and will have a passion for the destination.
- Experience in Tableau and Power Bi required.
- Hospitality experience preferred.
The pay for this role is $42.85 an hour, paid every Friday.
