What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jr. Accountant position at CGI?
CGI is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as an Accountant supporting NASA clients at Glenn Research Center. Working in a collaborative office environment, the Accountant will utilize various financial systems to complete cost payment work. This position is located in our USA OH Cleveland -- USAOHCLE01 office with work performed at client site in NASA Glenn Research Center Cleveland, OH.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Familiar with accounting concepts such as: journal entries, general ledgers, debits/credits, reversals, cost accounting, and property accounting.
- Utilizes Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Verifies that balances and activity reported in the financial statements are auditable, accurate, and complete.
- Performs monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliation and supports the monthly and annual closing process.
- Provides input on internal controls and process narratives.
- Reviews/analyzes data such as invoice documentation and source documents.
- Posts transactions.
- Performs basic variance/trend analysis and forecasting activities.
- Supports the accounting staff and audit process by compiling data from financial systems (including SAP and Business Objects) and source documents from physical files.
- Supports a number of areas including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, reimbursable accounting and audits.
- Prepares financial reports for review by senior accounting personnel.
- Cognizant of interrelationships between accounting requirements and automated solutions.
- Under contractor supervision, must be able to assess products and procedures for compliance with Government accounting standards and principles
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
-BS/BA in accounting or a degree in a related field that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting plus 2-4 years of experience in the field or related area. Or MA/MS plus 0-2 years of experience in the field or related area.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
-Experience in SAP, IRIS, or other financial software systems. Ability to adapt to new processes. -Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $44,000.00 - $94,200.00.
