What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality & Food Safety Systems Manager position at CH Guenther & Son LLC?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead FSQA Team on the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the Management System, including successful transition of stand-alone systems that support relevant Food Safety and Quality data.
- Supplier Management System full implementation planning and execution, including contributions towards the continuous improvement of metrics related to Supplier Management and risk reduction.
- Works with HR and Corporate QA, Food Safety and plant QA and Sanitation Mgrs. to make the necessary training available to ensure the efficient use of quality and food safety software programs.
- Works with Regional QA Directors, Food Safety Director, and QA Managers to develop and maintain all QA policies and procedures. Develop communication plan for updates/modifications to policies.
- Works with marketing, sales and R&D and coordinates the uploading of data into customer-specific proprietary quality systems as necessary (e.g. HEB Amigo system, DQ Data Management System, Darden, Denny’s, Sysco, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.)
- Develops and provides reports and analyzes QA and Food Safety data as required for meetings, problem solving, and continuous improvement purposes.
- Assists FSQA Directors to successfully execute annual plans, short term tactical plans and long terms strategies.
- Assist in the standardization of the various plants’ SQF Quality Systems so that they all are uniform in format to facilitate compliance and change management.
- Works with The Corporate Regulatory Specialist to ensure that systems supporting regulatory compliance are maintained adequately.
- Maintains abreast of developments in the areas of quality and food safety programs, software systems and equipment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or other related field.
- Experience in Quality and Food Safety in a food manufacturing environment required.
- PCQI Certification, required.
- Management System Experience, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient use of a computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Statistical Process Control System, or other applicable Quality and Food Safety software systems Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have excellent attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self- starter and can get work done accurately with minimal supervision
- Ability to effectively interact with personnel in other departments to enhance value of processes that impact quality, food safety, delivery or cost.
- Ability to think independently, analyze problems, and recommend solutions.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple direct reports including but not limited to: Quality and Food Systems Analyst
- Work requires supervising and monitoring work performance of direct reports including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.
- Develop functional responsibilities of individuals that report to this position and ensure that best-in class output is created.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Typical work in office environment but will spend periods of time in manufacturing plants which will have exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise and vibration. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness and humidity.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up and carry 15 pounds at times.
- Substantial travel required (up to 40%) in North America and Europe.
