CH2M HILL BWXT West Valley, LLC (CHBWV) is the prime contractor selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Phase 1 – Facility Disposition Project at the West Valley Demonstration Project. The site is a scenic 30-minute drive south of Buffalo, New York.  In cooperation with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, CHBWV continues to decontaminate and decommission facilities at this site.

The Internship Program is an 8–10-week program with a 4-day workweek (10 hours per day).

The internship program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, develop practical skills, enhance knowledge, and make meaningful contributions to projects.  Intern assignments will be determined based on business need and role availability with consideration to skills and development goals. 

The Communications & External Affairs Intern will gain knowledge and experience in video production which recognizes and thanks employees for their work and dedication in contributing to the safe and compliant Main Plant demolition.  The Intern will also create a WVDP logo.

1. Conduct on-camera interviews with selected employees.
2. Take video footage of ongoing cleanup activities (MPPB).
3. Work with outside production house for additional footage and editing capabilities.
4. Create the video.
5. Create a WVDP logo with the possibility of working on web design.

• Pursuing a BA/BS in business, accounting, finance, human resources, or other related fields of study 
  • Broadcast journalism, photography, videography, and graphic design preferred.
• Must be at least a rising Junior

Other Requirements:

• Ability to intern for 10 weeks
• Enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new challenges

5. Collaborate with team members on projects to contribute to the organization’s effectiveness. 
6. Participate in projects and deliverables as directed by manager.
7. Support the team in preparing reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
8. Prepare a Final Presentation for Staff Managers at the end of the internship depicting internship experience and accomplished projects.

1. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
2. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft suite.
3. Exhibit professional behavior which promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace.
4. Ability to effectively manage, organize, and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
5. Perform tasks under general supervision for most assignments.
6. Assist in planning and coordinating project activities to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner.
