Position Overview:
The Director of Advancement leads fundraising initiatives and donor relationships for the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival, driving sustainable growth through diverse revenue streams and strategic partnerships. This role offers flexible scheduling and the unique opportunity to be part of the film fest community while maintaining primary responsibility for the organization's advancement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Development Strategy & Execution
- Design and implement comprehensive annual fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals
- Lead all fundraising campaigns and membership programs
- Secure and grow financial support from individuals, grant sources, foundations, and corporations
- Identify and cultivate new funding sources, including in-kind donations and marketing opportunities
- Manage major donor relationships and stewardship programs
- Create strategies for expanding individual donor base
- Oversee grant application process in collaboration with Executive Director
- Management of Donor Database
- Manage Development/Office Coordinator
Board & Committee Relations
- Partner with Board Committee on fundraising initiatives
- Develop individual board member giving plans
- Provide regular updates at board meetings
- Track and report on development metrics and outcomes
- Coordinate fundraising events with staff
- Provide strategic guidance on event planning for donor engagement
Required Qualifications:
Experience & Education
- Minimum 5 years professional fundraising experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- Proven track record in major gifts and individual giving
- Experience with donor database management

- Outstanding written and verbal communication
- Strong relationship-building and networking abilities
- Strategic planning and project management expertise
- Demonstrated success in donor cultivation and solicitation

Additional Requirements
- Ability to maintain flexible part-time schedule (20-25 hours per week)
- Occasional evening and weekend availability for events and meetings

- Ability to travel locally for donor meetings and events
