Job Title: Director of Programs and Events
Reports To: Chamber President

Compensation: $52,000 - $55,000 annually
The Chamber of Commerce Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg has been serving the businesses and communities of Northwest Ottawa County since 1899. The Chamber facilitates economic drivers and conversations to support business development, sustained growth, health and quality of life in our region.
We are seeking a dynamic and organized individual to serve as our Director of Programs and Events. This full-time position requires a passionate and detailed person with a minimum of 3 years event management experience to plan, coordinate and execute a variety of events and programs to serve and support our membership and business community.
Summary:
Under the direction of the Chamber President, the Director of Programs and Events has direct responsibility, accountability, leadership and oversight for all Chamber programs and events including budget development and management to meet or exceed the established revenue and participation goals. These programs and events provide business connections, leadership development, community support and engagement, education, networking, business partnerships and support the vision, mission and strategic plan of the Chamber. This position in conjunction with the Chamber President works to identify new program and event opportunities to support the current needs of our members and the business community. The Director of Programs and Events is also directly responsible for the leadership, management and accountability of the Event Intern(s).
Essential Duties:

- Development, planning, management, accountability, logistical support and successful execution of chamber and community events and programs including but not limited to the Chamber’s annual Art Festival, and Jingle Bell Parade.
- Accountability for developing all event budgets including revenues, expenses, and participation goals in conjunction with the Chamber President and Chamber Director of Finance.
- Coordination and review of contracts and price negotiations for all Chamber events and programs.
- Management and tracking of revenues and expenses within the approved program and event budgets to meet or exceed the established goals. Any expense variations from the final budget must be approved in advance by the Chamber President and reviewed with the Chamber Director of Finance.
- Identify new business partnership opportunities aligning with the organizational mission and vision of the Chamber.
- Recruitment of any speakers required for Chamber programs and events in conjunction with the Chamber President.
- Development of workshops and seminars that meet the identified needs of Chamber members with prior approval from the Chamber President for any new programs and/or events added to the events calendar.
- Create and provide opportunities for business and non-profits to collaborate, connect and support one another.
- Oversight, coordination and growth of Chamber roundtables and LEADS networking groups.
- Available to work additional hours outside of the Chamber’s normal business hours to ensure the timely completion of all responsibilities related to this position.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chamber President.
- Duties of this position are mostly performed on-site at the Chamber office in Grand Haven and at various Chamber member sites and event locations. Occasional remote work is permitted in accordance with the remote work policy and with advance notice and prior approval from the Chamber President.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams and various social media platforms with a developed knowledge of the Chamber’s membership database.
- Seek approval of any new events, programs or partnerships from the Chamber President prior to engagement, development and/or launch.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Event Intern(s) – The Director of Programs and Events is overall responsible for the leadership, management, supervision and accountability of event intern(s) who support the annual Art Festival and other chamber programs and events. Event intern(s) are part-time hourly seasonal positions.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years previous experience in an event management position.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with chamber members, event venues, sponsors, and internal chamber staff members.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as needed, including the last weekend of June for the Chamber's Annual art Festival event and the first Saturday in December for the Chamber's Jingle Bell Parade.
