The Chamber of Commerce Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg has been serving the businesses and communities of Northwest Ottawa County since 1899. The Chamber facilitates economic drivers and conversations to support business development, sustained growth, health and quality of life in our region.
We are seeking a dynamic and organized individual to serve as the Farmers Market Manager for the Grand Haven/Spring Lake Farmers Market. This part-time, seasonal position requires a passionate person to oversee market operations, foster strong vendor relations, and ensure the successful implementation of food assistance programs. Summary: Under the supervision of the Chamber’s Director of Finance, the Farmers Market Manager serves as the onsite manager for the Grand Haven/Spring Lake Farmers Market located at Chinook Pier in Grand Haven. The Market Manger is responsible for overseeing all aspects of market operations, vendor relations, and food assistance programs. This role requires onsite availability on market days (Wednesdays and Saturdays) during the market season (May – October) as well as additional administrative hours before, during and after the market as needed. Additional availability needed before the market season and after.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Operations
- Oversee all day-of-market operations, including setup and takedown
- Enforce market rules and regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for both vendors and customers.
- Coordinate and oversee payment acceptance processes, including collection and tracking of vendor fees, food assistance programs, Chamber Dune Dollars, etc. acceptance process, ensuring a balanced and diverse selection of vendors. taking place at the market. and concerns promptly. regulations. providing a high level of customer service. Food Assistance Programs
- Coordinate the vendor recruitment, application review, and acceptance process.
- Organize and execute special events, fundraisers and/or programs
- Maintain positive relationships with vendors, addressing inquiries
- Assign booth spaces and ensure adherence to market rules and guidelines
- Ensure proper insurances are secured from all vendors.
- Serve as the liaison between market vendors and the Chamber
- Oversight and coordination of all food assistance programs such as SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks, Power of Produce and others.
- Complete verification of food assistance receipts after each market.
- Ensure accurate reporting for food assistance programs compliant with guidelines and collect market data as needed.
Team Mangement
- Supervise and provide guidance to interns and volunteers assisting with market operations.
- Assign tasks to ensure smooth operations and positive customer and vendor experiences.
Administrative Duties
- Review and coordinate contracts and agreements necessary for market operations
- Facilitate and lead meetings of the Market Advisory Group to foster collaboration and strategic planning.
- Maintain accurate records, including vendor applications, payments and food assistance program data. and other requirements. Association (unless already certified). Attend seminars/webinars as neededQualifications

Qualifications
- Experience in market management, event coordination, or related
- field is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with vendors, customers and stake holders.
