Chambliss Center for Children is a private, local non-profit organization in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The agency offers extended child care for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years. The programs serve almost 700 children per day, of all races, ages, and economic backgrounds throughout the city.

Role Description

At Chambliss Center for Children, we believe in the power of diverse perspectives and experiences to enrich our community. We are seeking a dedicated individual with a passion for children’s education to join our team in a Head Start classroom, working with 3 and 4 year old children. As a teacher, you’ll play a key role in fostering the intellectual, emotional, and social growth of young learners. The premise of Head Start is simple: every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, has the ability to reach their full potential. 

This position is full-time, year round, and comes with benefits.

What We’re Looking For:

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) or higher degree in Early Childhood Education required.
• Able to pass a fingerprint background check.
• Prior experience working with children in a classroom required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Stay engaged and supervise children in your care, ensuring safety and promoting active participation in all activities.
• Plan and lead activities that support children’s development in social, emotional, physical, and cognitive areas.
• Maintain an organized and supportive classroom environment.
• Build positive relationships with staff, parents, and volunteers.
• Be attentive to the health and well-being of children, responding to their needs as appropriate.
