Title: Adjunct Faculty, Counseling Psychology
Department: School of Education and Behavioral Sciences
Part-Time, Exempt
Position Summary
The responsibilities of this position comprise of teaching select MS in Counseling Psychology program courses. The Adjunct professor is expected to actively participate in course development, assessment, and select student-related activities (e.g. regular office hours).
Must be able to teach in-person and/or teach synchronously online starting from 5:30 pm Hawaii Standard Time, one night per week per class.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach select courses in MS in Counseling Psychology program during its 10-week accelerated semesters
- Statistics, Research, and Evaluation

- Participate in program assessment specific to the course(s) that are taught, Adjunct meetings, MS in Counseling Psychology Advisory Board meetings
- Deliver student-focused, active-learning instruction and conduct assessments of student program, and course learning outcomes

Education and Experience
Minimum
- A graduate degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. Advanced training or relevant professional experience applicable to the course(s) being taught
- Experience conducting cognitive, behavioral, and/or personality tests in an educational or clinical setting, or, clinical experience conducting counseling in an educational or community-based setting
Preferred
- 1-year teaching experience at the university level
- Professional experience in a Hawaii Department of Education public school.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in the use of technology to support both in-class and online learning environments
- Experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body at all levels of the university
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, learning management systems (e.g. Canvas), and other programs related to teaching, learning, advising, and assessment
- Must have the ability to create and facilitate a meaningful learning environment and demonstrate a willingness to teach Educational Psychology courses in a diverse educational setting. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Physical Requirements
Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
Other Requirements
- This is a part-time, exempt position. Nineteen hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule.
