Position Summary
The Adjunct Instructor will primarily teach in-person undergraduate courses in Psychology, with additional teaching responsibilities in special programs such as the Early College High School program and the Higher Education in Prison program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering student learning and supporting students from diverse backgrounds, including those traditionally underrepresented in higher education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching:
- Deliver high-quality in-person undergraduate Psychology courses in alignment with program goals and university standards.

- General Psychology
- Engage students through innovative teaching methods and active learning strategies.
Program Involvement
- Participate in curriculum development and assessment for special programs.
- Contribute to ongoing accreditation efforts and program evaluations.
Advising & Mentorship
- Offer academic support and guidance to students enrolled in Psychology courses and special programs.
- Hold regular office hours and be available for student consultation.
University Service
- Attend department meetings and serve on program, school, and university committees as needed.
- Actively contribute to the mission of Chaminade University, including supporting students of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island ancestry.

Education and Experience
Minimum
- Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling or a related field
Preferred
- Previous teaching experience at the college level, particularly with diverse and non-traditional student populations.
- Experience in special education settings, such as early college programs or prison education.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body at all levels of the university
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, learning management systems (e.g. Canvas), and other programs related to teaching, learning, advising, and assessment
Physical Requirements
Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
Other Requirements
- This is a part time, exempt position. Nineteen hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule
- Performs such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required
