Overview
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities. The DSP will work closely with clients to promote independence, facilitate daily activities, and foster meaningful relationships.
Duties
- Transport clients to and from ADS located at the CCAWL.
- Support individuals in achieving personal goals and objectives through tailored care plans.
- Monitor and record vital signs as needed, ensuring any changes are communicated to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' social interactions and overall well-being.
- Implement behavior management strategies and assist with crisis intervention when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Document client progress and report any concerns or changes in condition to supervisors or healthcare providers.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on best practices in caregiving and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Skills
- Knowledge of working with individuals with developmental disabilities is essential. 1 Year experience preferred.
- Experience in long-term care settings is preferred but not mandatory.
- CPR and first aid approved.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility or transfers.
- Proficiency in meal preparation, ensuring dietary needs are met.
- Approved Certification to distribute Medication .
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
