The Accounting Assistant position oversees the organizations financial responsibilities as outlined under duties. The Accounting Assistant will include data entry and clerical tasks submitted by billing cycle deadlines, compiling and reviewing financial information, preparing financial paperwork, maintaining general ledger as relates to accounts receivables, accounts payable and monthly profit and loss statements.
To be successful in the position of Accounting Assistant, it is imperative that this individual be familiar with popular accounting software programs and have a firm grasp of basic accounting principles and practices. The position requires a well-organized professional with an aptitude for numbers, who values productivity and accuracy. Successful job performance will be measured with the ability to maintain viable final products (VFPs) as outlined in job description. This will be accomplished through effective performance of the below listed duties and with proper collaboration with internal and external stake holders.
Essential Functions:
- Data entry and clerical tasks submitted by billing cycle deadlines
- Compiling and reviewing financial information
- Preparing financial forms, documents, and reports
- Assisting with the preparation of budgets and financial statements
- Assisting Accounting Manager or Business office Manager with tax filings documents
- Assisting with accounts receivables, payables and collaborating with HR for payroll funding
- Complying with federal, state, and local legal regulations and requirements
- Maintaining records and filing systems
- Professional answering telephones and collaborating with company’s vendors, subcontractors and clients
Other Functions:
- Attends all required training, in-services, and staff meetings
- Participates in company marketing campaigns
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor towards co-workers, professional partners, and clients
- Professionally represents organization as a brand ambassador
- Adheres, subscribes, and represents company culture standards
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of organizations
- Define, develop, and execute a personal growth and professional development plan
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum requirements:
- At least two years of accounting experience in same or similar field
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
- Working knowledge of state, federal and local regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft business applications (Office, Excel, Word, and Teams)
- Proficient in basic popular accounting software (QuickBooks Online)
- Proficient in computer skills, ability to learn new technologies and software
- Ability to explain moderately complex information clearly to enhance client, vendor, subcontractor understanding
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision making, and facilitation skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing environment
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
Viable Final Products (VFPs):
- Quarterly and Annual tax information collected to collaborate with business office and accountant on preparation
- Other goals discussed and agreed upon as relates to the job description
