Accounting Assistant
Reports To: Director of Accounting
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY:
Regional Homes is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Associate to join our accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field who is eager to gain hands-on experience in financial recordkeeping, reconciliations, and day-to-day accounting operations.
The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of accounting principles and be comfortable working with general ledger accounts, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and financial reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records by recording transactions in the general ledger.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Assist with monthly and year-end close processes, preparing journal entries and financial reports.
- Monitor cash flow
- Support audit preparations by organizing documentation and assisting with external auditor requests.
- Maintain and update vendor and customer records in accounting software.
- Assist in sales tax reporting and compliance as required.
- Perform administrative accounting tasks such as filing, data entry, and assisting senior accountants as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or an associate's degree with relevant experience).
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including GAAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
- Effective communication skills for working with vendors, customers, and internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or prior work experience in bookkeeping or accounting is a plus.
- Familiarity with inventory accounting or multi-location retail accounting
- Experience working with ERP systems or cloud-based accounting software.
