We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work at our facility in Ocala, Florida. This position will report directly to the Manager of Engineering. 


Ideal candidates must be motivated to work in a team-orientated-fast-paced environment. This position requires individuals to perform duties in a medical device manufacturing environment following strict quality and safety standards. Candidates must be willing to get involved with all aspects of your job, including routine, practical, or hands-on work. You must enjoy dealing with people directly.


Position: The Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for the design, implementation, and improvement of mechanical systems related to products and processes in the manufacturing environment. 


Job Responsibilities


· Designing new systems, equipment, and processes for products or to improve existing ones. 

· Use computer-aided design (CAD) to create or redesign mechanical devices and subsystems.  

· Develop and test prototypes of devices and equipment, and analyze the results to improve the design and functionality.  

· Conduct research to analyze the feasibility, design, and performance of equipment. 

· Analyze problems to determine how mechanical processes and devices can help solve them. 

· Oversee maintenance programs for mechanical systems and equipment. 

· Assess the safety of mechanical machinery and equipment.  

· Identify and recommend modifications to ensure products meet specifications.  

· Plan, coordinate, and monitor the manufacturing process.  

· Arrange the transportation and installation of mechanical components 

· Agree on budgets, timescales, and specifications with Engineering Manager.  

· Researching automation techniques to improve efficiency and keeping up with manufacturing industry trends. 

· Planning factory layouts and production lines to optimize how products are made.

· Provide guidance to junior engineering associates and subcontractors. 

· Familiar with ROI models for project justification and Capital purchases.  

· Identifying faults, investigating production problems, and oversight on equipment repair.  

· Researching and implementing opportunities to make mechanical processes more efficient.  

· Coordinating the introduction of new products with all operational departments.  

· The Mechanical Engineer should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to take initiative. They should also have good communication skills and be comfortable handling and operating a variety of machinery. 

· Management of resources and priorities for Engineering Project Planning. 


Competencies


· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Familiar with Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing Tools. 

· Proven Problem-Solving Skills. 

· Understanding of quality control including the implementation of quality at source. 

· Thorough understanding of plant engineering, industrial engineering, and tooling. 

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Familiar with project planning. 

· Strong communication skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare budgets and records.

· Experience and proficiency with IT design tools such as CAD software.

· Experience in implementation of IOT and AI elements in a manufacturing environment.  

· Knowledge of ISO 1345:2016 and 21CFR820 or experience in a similar regulated environment. 

· Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred. 

· Previous experience in an ERP driven environment. 

· Curious. 

· Self-driven. 

Requirements

  

· Bachelor's degree om mechanical engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering field.

· At least five years experience in this area of expertise is preferred.


Physical Requirements: 

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
