What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Supervisor position at Champion Packaging & Distribution Inc?
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the storage, handling, shipping, and receipt of raw materials and finished goods
- Optimize warehouse layout, dock utilization, truck loading and picking/staging processes to improve efficiency
- Ensure adequate inventory levels to meet daily outbound and production forecasts
- Lead and develop teams to resolve operational challenges and achieve performance goals
- Drive change management and business improvements in a fast-paced environment within a growing organization
- Collaborate cross-functionally to address and resolve distribution and production needs
- Recruit, train, and manage front-line hourly personnel to build team capabilities
- Motivate team members to achieve key performance targets
- Maintain an accurate inventory system to support production and distribution scheduling
- Enforce safety, housekeeping, and compliance standards
- Identify and implement productivity enhancements
- Administer and uphold company policies and procedures
Physical & Operational Requirements:
- Regular presence on the warehouse floor
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Forklift and clamp truck operation as needed
- Flexibility to work off-shift and weekends when necessary
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a warehouse supervisory role
- Understanding of inbound/outbound freight operations including carrier coordination, shipping documentation and regulatory compliance
- Follow OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations including HAZMAT safety procedures, PPE requirements, and emergency response protocols
- Experience with inventory management systems, cycle counting, and maintaining proper stock rotation (FIFO) to prevent product degradation
- Certification or experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, clamps and automated systems
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues related to inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, and operational bottlenecks
- Working knowledge in SAP, Microsoft Suite, Outlook, barcode scanning and WMS systems
- Change management and customer-focused mindset.
- Strong communication skills- Bilingual is a plus (English and Spanish)
