They will collaborate with operations, underwriting, compliance, and training teams to create comprehensive, user-friendly documentation that supports business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain mortgage lending guidelines, ensuring they are clear, concise, and compliant with industry regulations.
- Write and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for loan origination, underwriting, processing, closing, and servicing.
- Create process flow charts and visual documentation to illustrate workflows, decision points, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) in underwriting, compliance, risk management, and operations to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with company policies and regulatory standards for non-QM lending requirements.
- Continuously review and revise documents to reflect changes in policies, guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Translate complex mortgage concepts and procedures into easy-to-understand materials for internal teams, including loan officers, processors, and underwriters.
- Support training and onboarding efforts by providing well-structured documentation for new hires and existing staff.
- Manage version control and maintain a central repository for all documents to ensure accessibility and consistency.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in the mortgage lending industry, preferably in non-QM lending.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and lending workflows.
- Experience writing SOPs, work instructions, policy manuals, and process documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Advanced Excel, Lucidchart, or other process mapping tools.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to translate complex concepts into clear, structured documents.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
- Knowledge of loan origination systems (LOS), mortgage lending technology, and regulatory compliance standards is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
