- Operates batch processing equipment, including blenders, storage tanks, pumps, charging systems, bulk loading and packaging systems, and forklifts.
- Ensures line-ups are correct before materials are transferred.
- Processes batches according to product manufacturing and equipment standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Documents batch data on batch sheets, production analysis sheets, control logs, and material records.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and environmentally compliant work area and inputs information for incident reporting and suggestions for process improvement.
- Ensures process equipment is maintained through work orders.
- Labels and placards packaged material according to company policy and government regulations.
- Works closely with the Production Group Leader to accomplish all duties during his shift.
- Completes forklift inspections at the beginning of each shift.
- Represents management at Plant if the Production Group Leader is absent during non-office hours. Notifies appropriate plant personnel in emergencies. Takes emergency action on own authority according to standard operating procedures.
- Assists with the proper packaging of wastes as necessary.
- Supports the guiding principles of Responsible Care to continually improve Scott plant’s safety, health, and environmental performance, security, and efforts to respond to public concerns relating to design, development, manufacture, storage, marketing, distribution, use, and ultimate safe disposal of chemical products.
- Supports and is committed to the Quality Improvement Process. Plans strategies to ensure error-free work by “doing it right the first time” and conveys this attitude in the daily performance of various duties.
- Complete most work functions within production operations.
- Responsible for the quality blending of finished products and the packaging of products in bulk, drum, and pail.
- Complete general forklift duties.
- The core responsibility for blending and packaging of products demands the use of mechanical and electrical equipment such as pumps, mixing equipment, and automation control systems.
- Complete and comply with all safety initiatives and certification requirements, including all near misses and incident reporting.
- Be accountable for the data entry of production tickets, good receipts, and shipping documentation.
- Complete a daily work area inspection and ensure a clean, organized work environment is always maintained.
- Assist with physical inventory counts and processes
- Comply with all applicable ISO requirements.
- Plant located in Scott, Louisiana
- Work schedule and shifts: 8-10 hours, Monday to Friday.
- High school diploma/GED
- Minimum of 1-year experience as an operator in a batch or specialty chemicals manufacturing plant.
- Minimum one year of relevant experience.
- No immigration sponsorship offered.
- Must be fluent in English.
- Able to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Can bend, squat down, and reach above your head
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Must have the ability to don a respirator
- Must have the ability to wear fall protection when necessary.
- Two-year process technology degree is a plus.
- Forklift experience certification is required.
