What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic Helper position at ChampionX?

ChampionX has an immediate need for a Mechanic Helper located in Odessa, TX . The Mechanic Helper is responsible for assisting other shop employees with washing, tear down, cleaning, disassembling and reassembling units, minor welding, and painting units.

What You Will Do :

Wash incoming units from the field to prep for inspection.

Tear down and internally clean vessels.

Tear down units, disassemble pumps for inspection.

Minor welds on bracing for piping, etc.

Paint units.

Reassemble units, prep for test.

Knows and complies with all safety policies and procedures.

Contributes to the department's continuous improvement culture.

Maintains confidentiality of all matters.

Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications :

This safety-sensitive role may be subject to employer or customer drug testing

One year of experience in a related field.

Good oral and written communication skills

Good math skills

Good analytical and critical thinking skills

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work with minimal supervision

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite

Read, write, and speak English fluently

Preferred Qualifications :

Oil and gas industry experience.

Physical Requirements :

The employee is regularly required to stand for the entire workday.

The employee regularly lifts and carries 20 lbs regularly, and 50 lbs occasionally.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

Employee must be able to regularly bend, stoop, crawl, lay down, twist and push.

Employee is required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment including but not limited to shoes / boots, hard hats, or respirators.

Work Environment :

Work is primarily executed on the production floor, with varying temperatures and high levels of noise; personal safety equipment such as glasses and protective shoes may be required.

Exposure to shop elements, such as, dust, petroleum-based products, and other chemicals.

Work may require visits to customer field locations in a variety of weather and temperature conditions.

May include working nights, weekends, and / or extended hours as the business need arises.
