Job Description:
Champlain Valley School District is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Title IX Coordinator to oversee our district's compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The Title IX Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and equitable environment for all students and employees by developing, implementing, and monitoring Title IX policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Compliance and Policy Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and monitor district-wide Title IX policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with federal and Vermont state regulations.
- Stay abreast of and implement changes in Title IX laws and guidance.
Investigations and Resolution:
- Receive, investigate, and resolve Title IX complaints, including allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and other forms of sex-based discrimination.
- Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
- Coordinate and facilitate informal and formal resolution processes.
Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive Title IX training to students, faculty, and staff.
- Promote awareness of Title IX policies and procedures throughout the school community.
- Organize educational programs focused on the prevention of sexual harassment and discrimination.
Support and Resources:
- Provide support and resources to individuals involved in Title IX complaints.
- Coordinate with community resources and support services.
- Ensure the provision of appropriate supportive measures.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit required Title IX reports.
- Maintain meticulous records of all Title IX activities and investigations.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively with school administrators, counselors, and legal counsel.
- Work with local Vermont agencies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX laws and regulations.
- Proven experience conducting investigations and resolving complaints.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Knowledge of Vermont state laws regarding education and student rights.
- Experience in an educational setting is highly desirable.
