Job Overview:
Changing Options, a 24-hour residential treatment facility in Ramona serving adults with severe mental illness, such as Schizophrenia, is looking to hire a Full Time Direct Care Staff for the overnight/weekend shifts; flexibility for other shifts may be required.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Provide transportation as required.
. Manage medications i.e. recording, reviewing for accuracy, packing for passes, returning, and ensuring the medications are administered as ordered.
· Awareness or willing to learn Community Care Licensing regulations and/or know how to access the regulations that apply to operations and safety.
· Implement Changing Options procedures and practices.
· Follow through on directives and interventions from clinical and management teams.
. Counsel clients in a manner that promotes growth and minimizes crisis.
· Be involved and present on the facility floor, provide supervision of clients to uphold structure and rules, and conduct hourly rounds in conjunction with teammates.
· To respond to crisis in a professional manner that promotes safety for the residents and staff, and to manage personal reactions in a professional manner.
· To assist clients with ADL’s, laundry and room cleaning by providing guidance and education.
· Lifting, whether it be a client that has fallen or to protect a client, or as duties dictate such as carrying the dishwasher trays, moving client’s belongings etc.., is also an essential duty.
· Any other unforeseen responsibilities that may arise as a result of providing safe and therapeutic care to the Clients.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years old or older
- Valid CA Driver's License and at minimum 3 years driving record to be able to qualify for insurance
- Pass pre-employment drug testing
- Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictions
- Pass a physical exam and TB test
- Visual and auditory ability to observe critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
- Current or will need to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid, both Adult and Infant/Child, certification required and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute
- Must be able to lift to up to 25 pounds
- Ability to stand, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting, sitting.
