The Project Specialist 2 – Is a Project Manager that will Plan, coordinate, direct, and execute all day to day project activities according to set timelines and budget milestones. Be responsible for safe, on time, and on budget completion of all project activities while being held accountable for project level profit and loss and schedule elements. This position will require the PM to be proactive in the proposal and costing phase of the project. This will be accomplished by working in concert with Proposal/Estimating group. This position will be instrumental in being competitive by winning projects but also find the balance of maintaining or increasing As Sold Project Margin, while keeping safety and quality in the forefront of all involved.
Duties -
1. Drive a Target Zero safety culture, believes that safety is paramount to Chanute Manufacturing
2. Support the proposal teams on the development of accurate bids assuring reliable cost build up and legitimate execution plan that can meet the proposed schedule;
- Provide managerial leadership for small to medium projects.
- Identify project risks and mitigation tasks. Implement established risk management processes.
- Lead negotiations on routine contract changes and for smaller contracts.
- Manage the full scope of assigned projects or sub-projects.
- Ensure project plans are created to address all aspects of execution according to the contract.
- Maintain knowledge of contract issues and deliverables. Effect a smooth transition from proposal to contract stage.
- Manage the change control processes. Implement quality programs appropriate for the project.
- Ensure required quality training is identified for team members.
- Manage projects to meet financial commitments.
- Analyze a wide variety of cost control options and make decisions with management approval.
- Write Purchase Authorization requests. Develop project work breakdown structures appropriate for project.
- Effectively utilize Project Controls tools.
- Conduct periodic status updates and strategy meetings. Interface with various departments/entities on a timely basis. Prepare and deliver presentations with external customers.
- Act as primary contact for internal customers and some external customers.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
