The Role:
The Fitness Coach is a qualified, motivated, and supportive individual who will assist the Wellness Manager in ingraining structured and independent wellness activities into the daily lives of the Chapel Haven community. The Fitness Coach will be responsible for providing a variety of on- and off-campus activities with a focus on afternoon and evenings with some weekend activities. The Fitness Coach will assist in organize and manage pre-registered and drop-in wellness activities.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Facilitate transportation to and from off-campus wellness activities and special events.
- Run Wellness activities such as healthy cooking/meal planning or exercise-based workshops, clubs, and classes.
- Facilitate an “independent fitness time” program where students can exercise independently in a supervised setting such as campus fitness space or JCC community partners.
- Work with our community on an individual level to follow and develop Individual Wellness Plans (IWP) promoting a combination of structured and independent wellness activities.
- Provide 1:1 fitness, nutrition, and wellness coaching services to the CH community.
- Complete documentation of sessions within 24 hours in wellness systems
- Other tasks as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Human Services, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field.
- Must be certified personal trainer.
MINIMUM PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with individuals with developmental and social disabilities.
- 3-5 years’ experience and knowledge in nutrition and exercise science.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Valid CT driver’s license
- Ability to obtain a Valid CT Public Service License Endorsement
- Ability to obtain a First Aid & CPR Certification
- Ability to obtain a CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
- Problem solving skills, patience, ability to work as a member of a team, organizational skills & leadership skills.
- Ability to sit, stand and drive for periods of time
