PURPOSE
The Special Needs Coordinator will be in charge of the vision and execution of the Special Needs Ministry program at Chapel Pointe. The primary responsibility of this job is including all people with special needs in a church environment. With this in mind, this person will care for and advocate for our families impacted by special needs. The coordinator should have a passion for shepherding and training volunteers to serve these families. This person understands and desires to work with other departments in an effort to make Chapel Pointe a church that is sensitive to the needs of families with special needs.
Accountable to: Children's Ministry Director
Job Responsibilities
- Part-Time: 10-15 hours/week, requires Sunday hours
- Manage a growth-oriented ministry with goals that align to the mission and vision of the church.
- Creates an inclusive church environment.
- Works with cpFamily volunteers and ministry leaders to identify and serve individuals with special needs.
- Develops, maintains and staffs a classroom environment that supports the unique needs of any child with special needs that needs a separate space.
- Present on Sunday mornings to support the team of volunteer “buddies”, connect with families, and be available to help assimilate new families.
- Recruits, processes and trains volunteer teams to support the unique needs of our special needs families.
- Builds a team of “buddies” that enable all kids to be a part of cpFamily programming at age specific services and events.
- Educates volunteer leaders in cpFamily on the importance of individuals with special needs and how to effectively include them in our ministries
- Brings ideas and develops opportunities to serve the families of Chapel Pointe with kids with Special Needs.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant ministry/work experience
- Ministry or volunteer experience required; experience within special needs ministry or related fields preferred
