Job Qualifications—Applicants Must…
- Possess or be eligible to obtain within one year a current Michigan Teacher Certificate issued by MDE with an endorsement in Secondary ELA,
- Have demonstrated a passion for helping adolescents learn and value close reading and good writing,
- Be flexible and organized with a willingness and ability to teach multi-age classes at middle and high school levels,
- Relish the opportunity to each everything from middle school ELA to AP Lit and Lang classes,
- Be eager and willing to work cooperatively with school staff and parents, and to continue learning to develop as a professional educator,
- Have demonstrated high-level language, reasoning and communications skills, and can readily perform the physical demands of teaching, and
- Have knowledge and skill in designing and implementing quality curricular experiences for students, documenting learning progress, and using technology for data gathering, instruction, and communication.
Job Description—The Successful Candidate Will…
- Develop, refine, and implement all aspects of the curriculum for the courses to which the candidate is assigned,
- Provide individualized needs-based instruction and appropriate educational activities based on data from tests, records and observations,
- Manage his/her students and classroom effectively to optimize learning,
- Assume professional teacher duties such as assessment, maintaining individual data and records, conducting parent and teacher conferences, dealing with a range of student learning levels, contributing collaboratively to school improvement, and work as an effective team member,
- Organize and implement field trips and activities that enrich learning and build connections between the classroom and community, and
- Work under the direction of the school superintendent-principal, and perform all duties associated with district requirements and Board policies.
