Service Writer

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Service Writer to join our team in a fast-paced automotive environment. The ideal candidate will act as a liaison between customers and the service department, ensuring that all service needs are met efficiently and effectively. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive service management, diagnostics, and sales to provide exceptional customer service while supporting our mechanics in delivering high-quality repairs.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assess their automotive service needs.
• Create detailed work orders for service requests, including necessary repairs and maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with technicians to ensure accurate diagnostics and timely completion of services.
• Provide customers with estimates for repairs, including parts and labor costs.
• Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and transactions.
• Follow up with customers regarding the status of their vehicles and any additional services needed.
• Stay informed about the latest automotive technologies, trends, and dealership practices.
• Assist in managing inventory levels for parts and supplies related to shocks, struts, alignments, and other services.
• Promote additional services based on customer needs and vehicle condition.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in auto service management or as a Service Writer in an automotive dealership setting.
• Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with automotive sales techniques to effectively promote services to customers.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers.
• Ability to work collaboratively with mechanics and other team members in a busy environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of auto estimating processes is preferred but not required.
• A background in mechanics or hands-on automotive experience is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
