The hiring range is $62,104.00 - $69,802.00 annually; commensurate with experience.All applicants will be required to submit a link to a digital portfolio to share samples of your design work.THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION: New hires are eligible to telework after six months of employment following a satisfactory performance appraisal and subject to department approval.Charles County Government's Media Services Division seeks an experienced graphic designer with creative flair, and a desire to work with an experienced and established communications team. Design work involves creating publications, flyers, promotional materials, branding, and logos. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat) required. Photography skills a plus.The Graphic Designer manages media requests and communications planning processes for the Media Services Division. Creates, manages and ensures implementation of media services projects that meet organizational goals. Coordinates communication strategy, develops detailed work plans, and establishes timelines that meet internal customer requirements and budget.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Coordinates receipt and conducts assessment of internal customer needs, performs research to identify relevant audience(s) and communication strategies, develops integrated communication plans, manages detailed project work plans, and ensures plans are implemented on time and within budget.Serves as liaison across departments to ensure communications goals, needs, and requirements are met for all media requests. Keeps internal customers informed on progress and coordinates timelines and tasks for the media services division.Coordinates internal resources and third-party vendors for the execution of approved project requests. Develops and maintains project schedules and budgets.Oversees the collection of performance measures, reviews online analytics, collects customer surveys, and creates other evaluation tools to assess and improve communications support provided by media services.Evaluates available communication resources relative to costs, budget, time requirements and standard operating procedures, and ensure communication plans that can be implemented within these constraints.Manages and uses electronic communication tools to more effectively communicate with a broad constituency. Prepares and provides research for marketing production plans and reports. Includes researching current trends, best effective output, efficient production products for scheduling,Designs and coordinates production and annual updates of County-wide publications and marketing collateral, including newsletters, brochures, flyers, reports, and displays.Provides art direction for creative and technical designs for County publications. Provides advice to requesters on design elements, proofs, etc.Coordinates services of freelance designers in the production of multimedia communication and marketing initiatives that ensure maximum effectiveness and visual accuracy. Negotiates printing and advertising costs with vendors.Coordinates photographer assignments and oversees maintenance of photo files.Facilitates communication about projects with various stakeholders and media services division to report progress and monitor/evaluate project outcomes. Manages graphic design support including adherence to content and design standards, coordination of professional printing services and design of materials that promote County-wide programs and services. Coordinates and recommends freelance design and printing services for department requests outside the scope of County-wide priorities and capacity of the media services division.Acts on behalf of the Chief of Media Services Division during her absence for meetings, high-end project planning, and assisting Media Services team members.Performs other related job duties as assigned.
