SUPERVISING PUPIL PERSONNEL WORKER

- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with graduate courses in Administration and Supervision, Counseling, Special Education, and/or related service areas required.
- Pupil Personnel Worker certification required.
- At least three years of successful experience as a Pupil Personnel Worker required.
- Administrator 1 certification held, or Administrator 1 certification obtained within 2 years of accepting position required.
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate across Charles County Public Schools offices and departments in order to carry out assignments and functions.
- Ability to lead teams and drive system and student services goals to completion.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families.
- Familiarity with Charles County resources and ability to connect families with these resources.
- Ability to collect and analyze data to discern systemic trends.
- Ability to use data for planning, monitoring and evaluating Pupil Personnel Service programs.
- Thorough understanding of Charles County Public Schools policies and procedures related to areas such as, but not limited to, student attendance, residency, student registration, homeless and foster care registration, and kinship care.
- Thorough understanding of Synergy database and ability to use Oracle database to track leave, expenditures, and other personnel related material.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective human relations skills.
- Ability to drive Charles County Public School vehicle.
- Works with all departments of student services to plan, develop and implement the vision and goals of the department, which are aligned with CCPS’s strategic plan.
- Serves as a resource to staff, parents and community organizations.
- Assists in review and update of local student service policies, guidelines and procedures as needed.
- Maintains collaboration with state and local agencies.
- Serves on various school system committees/taskforces as assigned.
- Compiles and maintains relevant statistics for analysis of Student Services and/or Pupil Personnel Worker initiatives.
- Responds to telephone inquiries and correspondence related to the function of Pupil Personnel Workers from school system employees as well as the community.
- Keeps abreast of current local, state and national education trends in the areas of student attendance and home/school collaborative efforts.
- Reviews and updates local student service policies, guidelines and procedures as needed.
- Observes Pupil Personnel Workers, completes evaluations, and determines Pupil Personnel Worker school placements.
- Prepares reports required by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and responds to informational requests by other system offices and outside organizations.
- Primary CCPS contact for Child Abuse reporting, kinship care, and residency concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
